I must learn to never pick up one of Barbara's books unless I have a lot of time to read, because once I start one I can't put it down. All A Heart Needs was no exception. An excellent blend of intrigue, romance, learning to put the past behind. You are going to love this book.

The Callaway family dynamic just grows with the story of Sean, the somewhat, black sheep of the family. The son who didn't follow into footsteps of his father. He finally comes to grips with a tragedy from his childhood and finds his way back from his past.
Jessica, who has come into the family fold as the result of a kidnapping that involved her son and the son of Sean's sister, and Sean met during that struggle. They both felt a connection at that time but went their own desperate ways.

Sean and Jessica reconnect when he comes to stay with the family until his apartment is available. She moves into the house that belonged to the family of Sean's best childhood friend who died in a tragic fire in that house when he was 8 years old.

The story takes the reader through his nightmares to resolution of a mystery that has tortured him since the fire and leads him back to his father and love.

The story twists and turns to keep you reading until the very end. You do not want to put it down. Mystery, heartbreak, family and love all in the Callaway tradition.

The Callaways are a family that you must meet!! There is so much love, humor, strength and friendship among this family and the story pulls you in to make it seem like you are right there in the middle of them. This is the 5th book in the series and if you haven't read the first four, you need to!!! Not only will it make this book make more sense, but you would regret not reading them! This book was about Sean and Jessica, who both suffered pain and loss in the past, but helped each other through that and found true love. It was also great to catch up with the rest of the Callaways! Another 5 start book by Barbara Freethy so do yourself a favor and read it!!!
I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have any fingernails left after reading this book. I am so in love with this whole series, and I think it just keeps getting better and better with each additional book. I don't think I've ever read through a book as fast as I did with this one. Really, I very serious here. I flipped through those pages so fast, it's a wonder my could keep up.

Sean is a very successful rock star. He is also the only sibling not willing follow in the family tradition, which puts a strain on his relationship between him and his father. His father thinks he's just being a rebel. But what no one knows, is that he's been keeping a huge secret from everyone, since he was 8 yrs. old.

Jessica is a young widow, who moved to San Francisco to reunite her 6 yr. old stepson with his long-lost identical twin brother, Brandon. When she first moved there, she had settled on living in an apartment. But when a house became available on the next block, she decided to take it so her son would have a nice yard to play in.

Helen, is an elderly woman had just moved into an assisted living facility. She agrreed to rent her house to Jessica at a discounted price....if Jessica would agree to help clean out the house and the attic space, while she was living there.

Sean and Jessica have been attracted to each other for quite awhile, but at this point they are both still in the denial stage. Sean and Jessica stumble upon a very old secret while cleaning out the attic—A secret so big that someone might just be willing to kill to keep. The big question here, though, is who that someone is, and why? There is so many possiblities, it'll make your head swim. I am usually very good at figuring these things out, but this is the second time in this series that Ms. Freethy has totally stumped me. Every single time I thought I had it figured out, another senerio was thrown into the mix.

If you love a well written story that full of romance, intriguing suspense, close family ties, good friends, and cute kids, then this series was made for you. OR....if you love author's like Kathleen Brooks, Melody Anne, Marie Force, Robyn Carr, Lori Foster, Reeni Austin, or Shaanon Stacey you will most definitely fall in love with this series, too.

Rocker Sean Callaway knows he has always been a great disappointment to his dad Jack. He hasn't followed in his dad's footsteps as a firefighter like his brothers and he knows Jack looks down on his career choice.

Single mom Jessica Schilling and her son Kyle are the "newest" members of the Callaway clan. Jessica and Sean met briefly a few months before when strife and tragedy occurred uniting the two families. The sparks were flying but the time wasn't right for any type of involvement.

Now Jessica and Kyle have moved down the street from the Callaway homestead, where Sean is temporarily staying, into Sean's childhood friend's home. The home where a house fire killed his best friend Stacy and her father.

Sean is deeply troubled about Jess and Kyle moving into Stacy's home. He is also troubled by dreams of Stacy and the last time he saw her.

A few of Jessica's new neighbor are acting suspicious and Sean and Jessica begin investigating the cause of the fire again.

The heat between these two characters is intense and Freethy has written another great book. Her books are "stand alone", but will be better enjoyed and appreciated if you read the series.
