Bedside Manner eBook Emily Burke
How can a person say they liked a book about the atrocities of Hitler's war camps? This is not a story about the furnaces and work crews that are thrown into the camps to be murdered in one way or another. This is about a young doctor who dreamed of 'doing good' just as his grandfather had done. 'Doing Good' meant becoming a physician and helping others. Before realizing his goal of doctor, he was consumed with guilt over the death of his father and grandfather and had to endure the wrath of his monster of an uncle. His life was good in the area of his marriage and fatherhood and along came the war. He had o choice in the things he was selected to do while working in the prison but he tried to make things better for those he was administering to while forced to work with the SS. He was so tender hearted and loving this was the worse work he could ever have done. This sounds too depressing to read but the ending makes up for all the detailed work done to prisoners in the name of medicine. A blessing the man kept his sanity. This was downloaded onto my Kindle from Amazon and I am certainly glad I took the chance reading this World War II prison camp story. It will renew your faith in human nature.

Bedside Manner eBook Emily Burke Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed Bedside Manner, with its theme of how good but weak people can be drawn into evil. The main character is a very sympathetic man, who could easily be any one of us. The novel held my attention from page one until the end. I highly recommend this book.
This is a great story about a man who had to endure many tragedies and ill treatment as a young boy and young man.
Then he was exposed and involved in an untold evil against his will and consequences thereof.
Bedside Manner focuses on the life of Nicklaus Fleischer, a man who wants to be a doctor and help people. He is also a man who is haunted by an abusive past and is caught in the middle of the Third Reich's Aryan-superiority complex. He is a man with good intentions, but his purpose as a doctor is twisted by the Nazi regime. This is a brilliant and harrowing character study of a man at its most brutal and unflinchingly honest form.
If you are a fan of stories based on the Holocaust and World War II, do not hesitate to pick up Bedside Manner. This book features great character development, drama, horror, and tragedy that will be with you long after you finish the story.
I loved the book and the way the author kept the story together. It was so sad that such a loving soul had to live such a terrible life.
He had to do as he was told, if not, he would have been killed.
This story was so intriguing that I read the book and when I had to.put it down a bit, I could not wait to read some more.
Great book, great story, and a fantastic author..
I cannot wait to read some more of the writings...

Excellant read!! Felt for the characters and the trials of faith and courage that they faced. This time, the author wrote about a character that was on the other side of the Holocaust. There were more German people who did not believe in Hitler and tried to help victims of the Holocaust the best way they could. Great book to read to at least take a look at what it was like to be an "aryan" in Hitler's Third Reich and the conflicts of conscience that they had to wrestle with. This character may not have done as much as "Shindler" but he did try (to little too late?)
This book is so well written and researched. You can identify with each character in compelling ways. As horrible as the war was especially the medical experiments I could see how many Germans were also victims of the Reich. I admire the fact that the survivors when questioned at Numerburg, do you want us to use the medical knowledge procured by torture of Jews to be made public in the medical universitys? Yes, was the reply, don't let our suffering go to waste. One amazing miracle in use today from this torture is revival from cold water drowning.
Nicholas grew up on a farm in Germany. The family grew crops of hops and sold to a small brewery. They were one of the few families that didn't worry during the hard times. His Mom had died years earlier, so he was raised by his dad and grandpa. He was happy up until there was a serious accident and he was left with his mean and ugly uncle. From then on life was horrid for him. He managed to finish school and go on to a medical university, and graduated with honors as a heart surgeon. He met a lovely lady had a son.
Things were going pretty well except during his college training he was away from home a lot. Just before the holidays he came home and found out that the uncle had given is 3 year old son a black eye and the wife and son were gone.
In the mean time he has a good job, is unable to find his wife and his life goes to hell from there.
This is written during WWII and I'm not going to ruin the rest of the story, but you just may need a tissue.
