The Woman Who Met Her Match The laugh out loud romantic comedy you need to read in 2018 edition by Fiona Gibson Literature Fiction eBooks

Lorrie, the heroine, was a 46 year old single woman with two teen-aged children. The children (ages 15 and 17,) wrote her profile and submitted it to on-line dating site. Her children thought it was high time she "got on with her life". Seven years earlier, her partner (and father of her children,) had died instantly in a car accident.

I was rooting for Lorrie the entire book. The dating disasters were hilarious. Her first love from 30 years earlier, when she was a summer exchange student in France, contacted her through Facebook. Would he become the love of her life? Her work life was described well and realistically. She lived her life with grace and a hopeful outlook despite being a woman who loved to eat, hated exercise and was substantial. The author wrote such funny real-life situations. I devoured the book wondering how it would end.

The Woman Who Met Her Match The laugh out loud romantic comedy you need to read in 2018 edition by Fiona Gibson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I am so tired of reading books that seem to be solely written with a movie deal in mind. This book reminded me of every bad 90's romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan. Zero surprises here. If you're looking for a serious eye roll worthy book, this one is for you. I'm not a romance fan and the only reason I read it was because it was our next book club selection. I should have stopped after the first few pages
I stopped reading at 28 percent. I just couldn't care about the story or the characters. I skimmed ahead trying to find something. Wasn't there for me.
Lorrie at age 16 was sent by her mother to France to stay with her pen pal for the summer. Lorrie did not want to go and was truly miserable until she met her pen pal’s brother and he took an interest in her. Fast forward 30 years, Lorrie is widowed with two teenaged children, works in a beauty hall, and her friend from childhood, Stu, is a tenant in her home. Her children have signed her up on a dating service called datemylovelymum.com and she has been on some truly awful dates. Oh, and the French boy who broke her heart when she was sixteen now wants to friend her on Facebook.

This book had really good pacing. I liked the characters. I think that we have all known people like the ones doing the corporate takeover. I strongly recommend this book.
Predictable, but very sweet. Almost always, the people who we think of last, those who are constants in our lives, are the ones who we need to keep close and love. Often, what we're looking for is not to be found far from where we are, and mostly right before our eyes! But certain things has to happen before realization can set in, and it's all good as there's a proper time for everything.

Losing her husband to a road accident seven years ago, Lorrie tried to go out and meet other men. The dates were all disastrous except the last one with an acquaintance, but there were just no sparks there. There was also a reconnection with an old summer love that started well but fizzled a little badly in the end.

Never mind the predictability, here is another chick lit with substance, I should say, that teaches life lessons that are not selective of age.
Laugh out loud my big toe. I never even smiled. Sophie Kinsella is laugh out loud. This was a tedious, predictable tome with annoying characters. A near-regurgitation of zillions of tiresome stories told before.
Have just finished The Woman Who Met Her Match, and am back to buy my next Fiona Gibson book on !

It is great to find a new writer who can master light comedy, phases of women's lives, location ambiance, and looking for love in the modern world. What I particularly liked was that the story could have ended a couple of times, but there were new character developments that held attention. I particularly enjoyed the main character's love of her job and how she talked about true fulfillment in meaningful work. Sounds a little corny, but when you read it, you will probably pick up on it as I did. And, now to buy my next Fiona Gibson read!
This really was a fun book. I usually read more serious literature, but I've had a lot of fun this winter reading light, funny, stories about women -- mostly single women I just realized. I think with what's going on in our country right now, I really need to laugh and be immersed in something more lighthearted -- and with at least a couple of male characters who aren't narcissistic morons. Thanks for the break from reality!!
